Wagon Ride with SantaTake a break from the holiday bustle and spend the morning with your children at the beautiful Edison & Ford Winter Estates. Enjoy a unique holiday science show starring Santa and his Wild Wizard Elves, a healthy holiday breakfast, photo opportunities with Santa, and time to stroll the beautifully decorated homes and gardens of the Edison and Ford families.

Reservations are required. Cost: Edison Ford Members $22; non-members $25, includes general

Holiday Tea with Mr. & Mrs. Edison and Mrs. Ford

Celebrate the holidays with the Edison’s and learn about their favorite holiday traditions; enjoy tea, lemonade and cookies; and afterwards stroll the beautifully decorated homes and gardens of the Edison and Ford families.

Holiday Nights Decorating Teams

The decorating team for the upcoming Holiday Nights Season (November 25, 2016 – January 1, 2017) includes the following talented community organizations and local businesses who donate hundreds of hours to assist the Edison Ford curators to create the installation of furnishings, decorations and lighting that reflect the 1920 – 1930s. Thank you!

Food Truck at Banyan Café Opens in November

food truckThis month the Banyan Café Food Truck will be serving up a new menu with some great lunch items! The new and improved Banyan Café will open in the historic gardens of Edison Ford this month and will feature fresh “Edison” club sandwiches, “Mina Edison” salads, burgers, wraps, “Patent” dogs and Everglades BBQ. Cold drinks, ice cream and fresh fruit will also be available for purchase.

The new menu will provide visitors with a quick lunch or healthy snack option under the historic Banyan tree. Stop by and enjoy a “Model Tea” or cup of coffee and see what’s brewing at the Banyan Café.

Hypertufa Orb Class with Jim Hopton

hypertufa orbsUsing Hypertufa, a mixture of Portland cement, peat moss, vermiculite, perlite, and water, sculpt up to two orbs that you can hang or place in a pot. By attaching tillandsia (air plants), you will create a one-of-a-kind miniature living garden sculpture or garden ornament. Jim Hopton, retired art teacher, and inventor of the Edison Orb will instruct the two-part class in the Edison Greenhouse. Jim will also demonstrate various uses of Hypertufa in the garden.

This is a two-part class with a week in-between for proper drying time and artistically personalizing your orb. You will need to bring rubber kitchen gloves, and we will provide the remaining supplies. Buy one air plant and get another free (same value).

Scarf Painting at Edison Ford with Artist, Marie Dyer

● December 3, January 14, March 4, 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – Class held in our beautiful waterfront pavilion.
scarf art dec 2015 hillaryJoin Southwest Florida artist, Marie Dyer to create your own hand-painted silk scarf. Marie will teach a variety of techniques to inspire painters of all levels to create their own “one-of-a-kind” scarf. The scarves can be worn as art pieces or used as art for the home.

All materials will be provided to produce a finished piece. Marie’s scarves are on display in the Edison Ford Museum Store and Edison Ford Shoppe at Bell Tower Shops, and are available for purchase.
