I thought I would include some photographs of our recent Annual Volunteer Award Party last month in the River Ballroom at The Marina at Edison Ford/Pinchers. More than 200 volunteers turned out to be recognized, celebrate, eat cake and wonderful finger foods from Pinchers Crab Shack.
Here are some interesting facts:
• Edison Ford Volunteers donated 26,103 hours last year which is valued at $587,318 donated skills, time and work at Edison Ford.
• Edison Ford Volunteer Group numbers are now over 200 volunteers who do everything from work in the gardens, Garden Shoppe, the museum stores here and at Bell Tower, work at The Marina at Edison Ford, lead school and group tours, work as porch docents, work in the museum as educators, work in the office, answer phones, work with curators, work in membership and on and on. We could not survive without their talents and commitment.
• Monthly Volunteer Meetings include an informative speaker, social time and work schedule needs for the month ahead.
To find out more, come to a meeting (next meeting on May 10) or contact Holly Shaffer or Bobby Feldman and/or go on-line for an application. We require eight hours a month of service and we rely on you to help create “your job” utilizing your talents and interests. Volunteer meetings are typically the second Tuesday of each month. Upcoming dates are May 10, June 14, July 12, and August 9.
