In honor of Thomas Edison’s February birthday month, there will be FREE performances at the Edison Ford Shoppe on the historic Edison piano which is located there. To tie into the Edison era, music will include Scott Joplin, and other ragtime and Edison family favorites. The informal performances will be presented by Colleen Brady, former music faculty and teacher, who is a member of the Joplin Society. Governor Charles Edison is pictured here playing his 19th century Hallet, Davis & Co. piano which is now located at the Edison Ford Shoppe at the Bell Tower Shops along with other artifacts related to the Edison and Fords including a 1919 Model T. Mina and her son Charles were both accomplished pianists and music was very much a part of the lives of both the Edison and Ford families.
The public is invited to sit, browse or stop in our Edison Ford Shoppe. Piano performances will be from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. on February 6, February 20, and February 27.
