● December 12, 2015 – Palm Beach, Charleston Antiques Exhibit and Private Garden Tours
The bus will depart at 8:00 a.m. The tour will begin at the Society of the Four Arts with a lecture by Brandy Culp, Curator at the Historic Charleston Foundation called “An Eye for Opulence: Charleston through the Lens of the Rivers Collection.” This lecture will explore the rich history of Charleston and tell the story of the city’s golden era from colonial to antebellum periods. You will see an exhibit of exceptional fine and decorative arts from the Rivers Collection and loans from the Gibbes Museum of Art and Historic Charleston Foundation and selected objects from Drayton Hall and the Charleston Museum. After the exhibit we will take a tour of the Gardens and Sculptures with Johanna Kitsen from the Garden Club and Debbie Hughes, Senior Horticulturist.
Lunch will be at the Historic Testa’s Restaurant which was opened in 1921 by Michele Testa Sr. We have reserved a private room called “The Gardens” and participants will order from the extensive menu (lunch cost not included). After lunch we will be treated with a private tour of Kit Pannill’s Palm Beach private garden. She was kind enough to allow us to tour her wonderful private gardens.
We will return to Fort Myers at approximately 7:30 p.m..
