On October 27, Edison & Ford Winter Estates was honored to host a visit from Edsel Ford II who was accompanied by a film crew for the production of a video for the Ford Dealerships.
This is the second time that Mr. Ford visited the Fort Myers Ford Estate in the past few years and he noted the continuing improvements to the Ford Estate in Fort Myers. He was joined for lunch by members of the Edison Ford Board of Trustees and CEO Chris Pendleton. The topics were lively and included the quadricycle that Edison Ford is in the midst of building and the on-going restoration work at Edison Ford and at Ford’s Fair Lane Estate in Dearborn and the Edsel Ford Estate in Gross Pointe. The new collaboration of all of the Ford properties is benefitting the Ford legacy and public programming for all.
Mr. Ford also learned that his great grandfather Henry Ford was just inducted into the Florida Inventor’s Hall of Fame through the work of staff at Edison Ford. He was visited by Edison Ford’s Clara and Henry Ford and Mina and Thomas Edison, as well as students from the Edison Ford Robotics Camp, and the public.

The Edison & Ford Winter Estates and Starfive Transport carefully moved a 1919 Model T Ford to its new home in the window of the Edison Ford Shoppe At Bell Tower Shops. A modern day Henry Ford helped with the move along with curators.
“The Edison Ford Shoppe is moving to a larger store at Bell Tower due to its success during the past few years at our current location,” says Edison Ford President Chris Pendleton. She adds, “It is a winning combination to include exhibits, classes, programs and related retail at an active shopping center like Bell Tower.
We will have more space to include a large class area for art, science and history programs for adults and children. It is very exciting.”
The Edison Ford Shoppe at Bell Tower opened in the new location on November 10.
