A new exhibit entitled Tropical Gardens, Tropical Flowers opens in the Edison Caretaker’s House. This exhibit features modern photographs by renowned photographer Manfred Behr, as well as historic photographs, modern illustrations and paintings. All works focus on a theme important to the lives of the Edison and Ford families in Florida: the tropical gardens and flowers which surrounded them and document their love for the outdoor environment.
Manfred Behr lived in Europe for four decades before moving to Western Canada and finally Florida, where he published a travel magazine for 11 years. Behr has won numerous accolades for his work, including the American Advertising Award and “Florida’s Finest” award from the Governor of the State of Florida.
Prints and postcards by Manfred Behr are available in the Museum Store, Ford Cottage Shoppe, and the Edison Ford Shoppe at the Bell Tower Shops and his works are part of the Edison Ford Collection.
Visitors can email their photos of Edison Ford Flowers to Marketing@edisonfordwinterestates.org or post them on our Facebook page. Your photos will be included in an ongoing video in the exhibit.
