The photos I included are from the final week of Inventor’s Summer Camp. There was a group like this every week of the summer – that’s 11 weeks. In round numbers, that would be 600 children total but, many of the children participated for multiple weeks.
It was a very successful summer with many new programs focusing on computer science with the students writing simple programs and implementing them in the engineering, robotics, and animation classes.
A group of donors donates about $100,000 every year to make the education programs cutting edge at Edison Ford. Students have laptop computers, software, color printer and projectors to take their knowledge another level. They work in teams, small groups and learn communication skills which they have shown off every Friday in the graduation ceremonies for their families.
The donors include: George M. Cox, Trust, Dex Imaging, Inc., GE, Don & Arlene Keehan, Fred & Gingy Quinn.
Scholarship donors include: Charles & Sass Edwards, Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, Louis & Laura Jibben, Lee County Council of Garden Clubs, Mary McDonald, Kelly Schultz, Larry & Leigh Scrabis, Edwina Simpson and Heather Vaux.
Summer staff included a group of wonderful educators, interns and administrators who are pictured and include: Dylan Kluesner, Deb Bowers, Nadia Kluesner, Leeanne Criswell, Chris Pendleton, and Pearce Augustenborg.
This school year there will be programs offered on Teacher In-Service Days, holiday vacations, and scout days. Check the monthly newsletter and our website for updates and be a part of student education at Edison Ford.
