Homeschool Programs 2015 – 2016 Begin in October – Registration NOW OPEN

Every Monday & Friday – Morning & Afternoon Classes

homeschool august 2015     Edison Ford offers a unique opportunity for homeschool families to learn science and history by exploring many of Edison’s inventions ranging from electricity to movies.

Each session follows the Next Generation Florida Sunshine State Standards (Common Core). Parents will receive curriculum outlines for each class. Parents are required to attend and participate in the class with their student. A parent may bring non-disruptive younger siblings who must remain seated with the parent at all times.

  • October 12 & 16 – Earth Science/Geology, Grades 1st – 3rd 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.; Grades 4th – 6th 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Students will study the Earth. They will understand the structure of the Earth and its surface features, what causes earthquakes and tsunamis, and why volcanoes form and erupt. Students will learn about the history of geologists and geographers that shaped the field. They will also learn about minerals, which form the building blocks of rocks, and how rocks are made and destroyed. They will observe rocks and create fun experiments to create safe volcanic eruptions and earthquakes. Classes are limited in size and first-come first-serve.

Cost: Edison Ford Members $15 (one adult; one child); non-members $25 (one adult; one child). Each additional child is $15. Full payment is required at the time of registration and no refunds are possible due to material costs.

Subsequent topics through April will include: Space Science, Life Science and Biology, Scientific Method, Force & Motion, Energy Transfer, Electrical Power, and more.
