Art in Bloom – An Exhibit of Art and Floral Design

Posted by Edison Ford Winter Estates On April 3rd

● April 6, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m.

Art in Bloom is a collaborative project of the Edison & Ford Winter Estates and Fort Myers-Lee County Garden Council. The project combines art pieces with floral designs. Artwork created by a talented group of artists who have displayed their work and participated in programs at Edison Ford is used as an inspiration for members of the Garden Council and staff of Edison Ford to design their own piece of art using plant materials.

Artwork from Manfred Behr, Harry Bova, Marie Dyer, Karen Flanders, Kim Hambor, Megan Kissinger, Leoma Lovegrove, Rosemary Lovergrove, Doug MacGregor, and Paradise Coast Photography will inspire designers Bernadette Hamera, Debbie Hughes, Sandy Kavouras, Ena McGrattan, Julia Palmer, Terry Pinck, Todd Roy, Winnie Stone, and Suzy Valentine.

In addition, Art in Bloom will honor Berne Davis who celebrated her 100 year birthday on March 19, 2014, with a tree planting ceremony in the Edison Ford Gardens at 4:00 p.m. Berne, a contributor to the Edison Moonlight Garden restoration, has been a longtime member of the Periwinkle Garden Club, along with Mina Edison, Thomas Edison’s wife.

Artwork from contributing artists will be available for purchase and a Tea Tent will serve Edison Ford Tea, a special blend of tea made for the Edison & Ford Winter Estates. Visitors will also have the opportunity to vote on their favorite piece.

Cost: Edison Ford Members and Garden Council Members FREE; non-members $5. The event is open to visitors touring Edison Ford with a general admission ticket.
