Edison Ford Volunteer David Sheehey assembles a bamboo Edison “electrolier” for the Strolling Flower Show at the Bell Tower Shops.

Edison’s invention of the ‘electrolier’ is being celebrated in the giant bamboo chandelier created by Edison Ford for the annual Strolling Flower Show of the Periwinkle Garden Club, a member of the Fort Myers – Lee County Garden Council, Inc. at the Bell Tower Shops.

The Edison Ford installation in the Saks Fifth Avenue window is a modern day representation of one of Edison’s patents of an electric chandelier dubbed by Edison an “electrolier.” It combines several types of bamboo including the giant construction bamboo and green striped variety found in Edison’s gardens. Edison was working with bamboo as one of the original filaments for his early light bulbs. Event is FREE to the public.
