Rainy days at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates

Fort Myers, FL (June, 25, 2012) The Edison & Ford Winter Estates in Southwest Florida is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., rain or shine. Summer weather can be unpredictable and the Edison Ford is enjoyed by all ages, even in rainy conditions.

Everyday the 15,000 square foot, air-conditioned Museum is open, filled with inventions, artifacts and archives. Galleries include, “Into the Wild: Camping Adventures with Edison, Ford and Friends;” Smithsonian Institute “Edison After Forty;” “Music Movies and Dance;” and much more. Regular hands-on Museum demonstrations of Edison inventions are led by Edison Ford historians. Visitors can also tour the newly restored Edison Botanic Research Laboratory.

Tours of the homes and gardens continue throughout the day unless thunder is present and until it passes visitors can explore the Museum, watch a film in the movie galleries, participate in hands-on demonstrations and tour the Edison Botanic Research Laboratory.

The Edison Ford is open daily from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The Edison Ford is the winner of the 2009 National Stewardship Award from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and is an official project of “Save America’s Treasures” at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a Florida Historic Landmark and a National Register Historic Site.
