Young Scientists & Inventors Fair for Homeschoolers

Posted by Edison Ford Winter Estates On October 13th

The first annual Young Scientists & Inventors Fair at the Edison & Ford Winter Estates will be held on November 16, 2010 from 9 AM – 12 PM with an awards presentation at 1:30 PM.  The Inventors Fair is open to all 6th– 12thgrade homeschool and virtual students.  There is no cost to register for the Fair.  The Fair strictly abides by the rules and guidelines as defined by the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Six students receiving the top awards will proceed on to the Southwest Florida Regional Fair, Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science & Engineer Fair held in January at Harborside Convention Center, as well as the opportunity to participate in state and international level competitions.

A Homeschool Science Fair Projects Workshop is scheduled at the Estates on Tuesday, October 26, 10 AM – 12 PM.  The Workshop will include presentation skills and a “rehearsal” for the Fair.  During the Workshop, every student will have the opportunity to become a judge.  The cost to attend the Workshop is $10 for Estates Members, $15 for non members.

“The Young Scientists & Inventors Fair for Homeschoolers at the Estates offers a great opportunity for homeschool students interested in science to compete and advance to other levels,” says Glen Beitmen, Estates science educator and Wild Wizard presenter.  “The Fair gives homeschool students the opportunity to discover their scientific and technical talent as well as demonstrating their research in competition for awards.”
