Quilting Demonstration at Edison Estate
The Southwest Florida Quilter’s Guild will be demonstrating quilting techniques and displaying quilts on the porch of the historic Edison Estate on Saturday, January 24 and Saturday, February 28 from 10 AM – 2 PM. Their work includes both traditional quilt forms as well as contemporary art quilts with members from teenage through adult. Visitors will have a chance to watch and talk with the quilters while they work. Some quilts will also be for sale.
Members of the Guild have created several historic replica quilts from the Henry Ford collection which are on display in the Estates Museum. They present an annual quilt show in the fall at the Estates, called the “Clothesline Quilt Show – Airing of the Quilts.” The event is scheduled for October 31, 2009.
